Investigating carbon footprint patterns across business operations to develop evidence-based frameworks supporting sustainable environmental practices. The research aims to bridge the gap between corporate sustainability reporting and actionable policy recommendations aligned with Germany's Energiewende objectives.
This research examines the measurement, management and mitigation of carbon footprints within business operations, with a particular focus on SMEs in the German market. Drawing on primary data from corporate sustainability reports and field interviews, the study develops a practical framework for integrating carbon accounting into business strategy. Outputs include a peer-reviewed publication in the CSBII Journal and a policy brief for German regulatory bodies. The project aligns with SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
Analysing the regulatory and policy frameworks governing the game development industry in Germany, with a focus on funding mechanisms, intellectual property protection and digital economy growth strategies applicable across the DACH region.
Germany's game development sector has grown significantly yet lacks a cohesive national policy framework comparable to those of France or the UK. This research conducts a comparative policy analysis across EU member states, evaluating subsidy schemes, IP protection regimes and educational pipelines. The study produces actionable policy recommendations for German federal and state governments, with particular attention to the role of innovation hubs and startup incubation in the DACH region. Aligned with SDG 8 (Decent Work) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure).
Developing a functional simulative neo bank application to model digital banking ecosystems, explore fintech innovation pathways and evaluate regulatory compliance frameworks for branchless financial services operating within the German and EU market.
This applied research project designs and develops a simulative neo bank application that models the full lifecycle of a digital-only banking service — from customer onboarding and KYC compliance through to transaction processing and regulatory reporting. The simulation provides a testbed for evaluating emerging fintech business models, AI-driven credit scoring and open banking APIs within the constraints of the German Banking Act (KWG) and EU PSD2 directive. The project aims to produce a working prototype, a peer-reviewed paper and a policy briefing for BaFin-adjacent stakeholders. Aligned with SDG 8 and SDG 9.
